According to the English dictionary, Gratitude means the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. So how often in your life do you practice gratitude?

It feels so easy to always find the stuff that makes us unhappy but why don’t we try to find the things in our present that makes us feel good?

A stranger who did a nice thing for you? A friend who helped you or had a fun conversation with? Or a cute animal who came to say hello to you?

All of us who have a stutter probably have felt at one point in their life that they would be happy if they didn’t have a stutter.

But would you without stuttering have met the people in your life right now? What about all the lessons you have learned because of your stutter? Would you be the person you are today if it was not for stuttering?

We all are going through something in life and we all have hardships that make us believe we will be happy when X thing happens or when we get X thing but we all have something that makes us smile and gives us joy in the very present which I feel we should notice more often. It’s good to think about things in life that we want in the future, but it’s also important to think about what right now in your life is making you feel content.

For 2020 I challenge you to practice gratitude. Write down or even notice in your mind things in your everyday life that made you feel thankful. Do it for at least two weeks and let me know if it made you feel any different. I tried it for 2 months and it made me focus more on the present good.

My goal is to keep practicing gratitude. I’ve seen what it can do and I feel like it’s a good method of practice on learning how to enjoy your life at the very moment.
