Community Guide
Revised Oct 2025

From the very beginning, one of Stamily’s core missions has been to create a safe and supportive space for people who stutter across the world. As a diverse community made up of people from many cultures and backgrounds, it’s natural that we won’t always share the same opinions or ideas, or use different communication styles. This is fine, as long as we are respectful of one another and no one feels judged or unsafe. The following community rules are designed to help maintain our safe space and apply to all Stamily platforms, both online and in-person.
Community rules
-
The main language used is English only (otherwise we cannot moderate).
-
Discrimination based on religion, race, sexual orientation, culture, gender, political viewpoints and/or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated.
-
Use respectful language. Stay civil and polite at all times.
-
What is said in the group, stays in the group.
-
Do not promote or advertise stuttering cures, therapies, or surveys without permission from the Stamily Board.
-
Only send personal messages to members you don’t already know when it is clearly appropriate (for example, to coordinate something related to Stamily activities) or if you have their consent.
-
Stamily is not a dating platform. Please respect each others boundaries.
-
Stamily is not a job application or career platform. We do not allow job advertisements and people who join for career reasons.
-
Stamily is not the platform for personal or group fundraising. Any clarification needed please contact the Stamily Board.
-
Any promotion of illegal items or actions will be removed.
Additional recommendations
-
Avoid and stay out of conflicts: If a conflict arises, do not get involved. Instead, report the issue.
-
Unsolicited/unwanted advice is usually not appreciated.
-
We ask professionals to not act in the role of caregiver or therapist. Expertise and enthusiasm is most welcome.
-
Be respectful when you discuss sensitive topics like politics, religion and even conspiracy theories.
-
Avoid discussions that are not related to stuttering or Stamily.
-
Help us to keep the group positive and uplifting and contact us when anything inappropriate is posted.
Our moderators reserve the right to remove any content they consider inappropriate. Consistent disruptive or instigating behaviour, or any serious violation of these rules, may result in immediate removal from Stamily platforms or termination of membership in the organisation.
Questions about the community rules can be addressed to the Stamily Board (hello@stamily.org). If you feel harassed by anyone (whether within our group or by private message), please contact a Stamily Confidant.
