Welcome to Stamily!

Our organisation was registered in the Netherlands in 2020 and is devoted to helping, supporting and developing people who stutter (PWS). We do this by, among other things:

  • raising awareness of stuttering

  • creating a global, diverse and independent network community of PWS, where everyone can share personal struggles, feelings and achievements in Stamily’s safe environment, as well as events connected to stuttering

  • promoting living with and embracing stuttering as opposed to fluency

  • supporting the personal development of young PWS as well as their participation in the work of organizations related to stuttering.

We welcome people from all over the world – people who stutter and people who don’t (but who are willing to be our allies). Go deeper into our philosophy here.

WhatsApp

Our main channel of communication is through our WhatsApp Community. You have received a link by email to join the main group We Are Stamily. If you have trouble joining, please email membership@stamily.org.

Here, you will find a welcoming, thoughtful community of people from all over the world determined to create a safe space where we can talk about the experience of stuttering. We also have WhatsApp subgroups that you can join for specific conversations such as Stuttering and Creativity or Stuttering in Academia. Some of these groups you can join instantly and we encourage you to do so; others are for assigned members only, such as the Board, membership, and confidants.

Safe space

We are determined to maintain this safe space in our community in face-to-face events and on our social media platforms, and you have a role to play in helping us to do this. Please make yourself familiar with our rules of engagement via the Stamily Community Guide, which you will find here. These are the rules for interacting with other members within Stamily.

Most importantly, we don’t allow:

  • bullying, harassment, or any form of intimidation or manipulation of our members. This can result in losing your membership

  • commentary on geopolitical issues, religion, or other potentially divisive topics.

Our rules provide a safe space for all, and we look forward to your participation with Stamily.

If you ever feel uncomfortable with the behaviour of another member, you can get in touch with one of our Confidants, here. Alternatively, you can get in touch with the Board via hello@stamily.org.

Volunteering

Stamily is fully volunteer-based, meaning that all our activities are organized by our members. If you have an idea to organize an event, online or in-person, you are very welcome to pitch this idea in the main WhatsApp group or directly towards the board via hello@stamily.org.

Welcome to Stamily! We hope your time here will be a great experience.
